Institut für IT Sicherheitsforschung, Department Informatik und Security.

After and amazing weekend exploring Vienna it is time to get back to work! Today's mission is an interview with a researcher at the Institut für IT Sicherheitsforschung, Department Informatik und Security. This visit to FH and the previous visit to TGM have been organised through our IT partnership with Cisco. Emma, our Cisco rep in Australia contacted her equivalent (Pawel) in Europe who is based in Poland who contacted his partners in Austria. Good partnerships don't stop at borders! St. Pölten is about 75km away and I will need to take the public transport system which is brilliant, but that's another story for another day.

The St. Pölten UAS LLC is locally anchored, globally connected and stands for qualitative academic education in the departments of Rail Technology and Mobility, Health Sciences, Computer Science and Security, Media and Digital Technologies, Media and Economics, and Social Sciences. Main focuses

Research, development and innovation are closely related to teaching. Interdisciplinary teams observe current developments and research their resulting challenges for society and the economy. Together with national and international partners use-oriented projects are worked on, so that participants are faced with current, subject-specific findings.

Research is done in the following fields:

  • Media and Digital Technologies: The field of media at IC\M/T consists of the research teams Video production, Audio design, Media computing as well as Mobile and researches with a focus on Creative content & digital heritage, Info-& edutainment and Smart tools & digital workflows
  • Media and Economics: Media systems in flux, new forms of organisations and business models, effect and use of media
  • Informatics and Security: privacy, biometry, IT-Forensic, industrial security, anti-forensic, security management, software security  
  • Rail Technology and Mobility: application-oriented research and development focusing on traffic and mobility
  • Josef Ressel Center for unified threat intelligence on targeted attacks (TARGET)
  • Health: nutrition and sport in health promotion, prevention, therapy, rehabilitation and quality assurance with particular consideration of issues such as geria-nutrition, consulting methodology, posture - movement - locomotion, healthcare research as well as inter- and multidisciplinary topics  
  • Social Sciences: social diagnostics, analysis of social environments,  client inclusion, diversity, elderly people and their relatives, general questions of inclusion, use of new media
